Entry #1: 3/30/24

So my PCBs for my Cassette player project arrived and they fit!

This project aims to create a cassette player in an altoids tin.

There are two main components to this project, the electronics and the mechanics.

I've been working on the electronics and I now have a very simple working set up that I plan to continue to add and change and make better and more capable.

The current set up consists of two parts: the audio and the motor control using a LM386 and 555 timer chip.

I will go into the details of how the circuits work and the design process on Kicad in another entry.

So now that I soldered up the boards I have ran into a slight problem. The through hole solder components make it lay uneven and slide around.

In order to fix this I measured the inside with some calipers and designed a simple 2mm circle fitting on the inside to hold the pcb boards steady and level.
